Iodine is one of the most important minerals for health, and among the most underrated. Among its many roles, organic iodine is crucial for hormone production and regulation, particularly in the thyroid.

Each capsule contains a typical 350 micrograms of natural iodine. It has particular value in breast cancer, detoxification, weight regulation, diabetes, obesity and other metabolic disorders.

We carefully micronise a single iodine-rich variety of Seagreens® wild wrack seaweed, Ascophyllum nodosum, and seal it in a vegetable capsule. We harvest only fresh living plants which then re-grow.

To preserve the minerals, we do not powder our seaweeds; nor do we overheat them: they are slowly air dried.

When we introduced these capsules in 2000 at the request of vegan and vegetarian customers who don’t eat meat, eggs or dairy foods (the main sources of iodine) we discovered that we had made the only additive-free, iodine-rich 100% Organic dietary supplement on the market. And as far as we know, it still is!

Why is it called Iodine Plus?

The + is that Seagreens® is also naturally rich in all the minerals and micronutrients needed for the proper transport and metabolism of iodine including selenium, tyrosine, zinc, copper, vitamins A, B2, B3, B6 and C. This is because the Seagreens® seaweed is an outstandingly balanced whole food.

In contrast, our Food Capsules contain a typical 195 micrograms per capsule allowing an equivalent daily intake of iodine which has double the balance of all the other nutrients. This may be more suitable in children, pregnancy and in most therapeutic protocols.
