Professor Jane Plant, professor of environmental geochemistry at Imperial College, London is chief ‘toxic chemicals’ adviser to the British Government, and a trustee of Prince Charles’s Foundation for Integrated Medicine, with Janet Stephenson, an NHS psychologist, advocate a “radical overhaul” of the way the NHS treats people with some form of mood disorder, challenging many conventions of mental health treatment. “Rather than just being prescribed a diet of pills such as Prozac, get a taste for seaweed and sushi, treat yourself to a moothie, and send fewer text messages”, they say (193).
