Please join us at talks, meetings & exhibitions; we love to meet you.

Seagreens® is a broad initiative, with our harvesting and production operations in the British Isles and Nordic region, the Seaweed Health Foundation for research, standards and public information in Edinburgh and London, Retail and Distribution Partners in several countries, and our head office in West Sussex. This year we have organised or participated in a number of events and continued our scientific research with more than half a dozen projects at a similar number of British and Scandinavian universities.

With other producers and partners we continue to pioneer a sustainable, world class seaweed industry in north west Europe which can be of great economic and nutritional value to our own and world populations in years to come

Simon Ranger

Simon formed Seagreens in 1997, an Anglo-Scandinavian joint venture which developed award-winning production in Scotland and elsewhere in the British Isles and Nordic region. Most recently Nutritious Food Seaweed, a certification scheme introduced by the Biodynamic Association, and Simon’s brainchild, sets the standard of wild seaweed ingredients for nutrition, healthcare and the food industry. Through 'brand partnerships', Seagreens® ingredients are used by organic producers like Bart Ingredients, Clearspring, Pukka Herbs and Viridian Nutrition and are the subject of published research.

As well as these commercial activities, Simon set up Probono, an international organisation to balance business and human development in and between corporate cultures, at the London Business School in 1990. In 2010 he set up the Seaweed Health Foundation for standards, research and education on seaweed for the western diet.

Simon lives in West Sussex where he is restoring an Edwardian estate aiming to encompass biodynamic horticulture, Japanese mushroom growing, and natural bee-keeping. Simon can be contacted at

SEPTEMBER, 2017 - Edinburgh, Scotland: Saturday and Sunday, September 2 and 3. 12noon - 4pm daily

Seaweed for Health, Edinburgh

Seagreens exhibits and gives talks along with a nu,ber of excellent speakers at the Seaweed Health Foundation's 5th annual event held at the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh. At this time of year the Garden is still beautiful and the weather has been excellent the past few years. Through these public events we discuss nutrition, foraging and food, the event highlighting how seaweed used as ingredients in nutrition and food products is becoming a valuable export from the British Isles. More than 1000 visitors annually can touch and taste the different species and find out why and how they can add health and flavour to the daily diet. You might like to read Dietary Seaweed in Preventive Health by the Foundation's founder Simon Ranger, recently published in Positive Health online.

Edinburgh is also the venue for the Seaweed Health Foundation's 2017 annual gathering for Friends of the Foundation to meet and discuss their shared interests on the Sunday morning from 10.30am - 12.

If you would like to exhibit in 2017, or send your seaweed products to be exhibited, give a talk, produce seaweed food, or contribute in any way, please contact the Foundation's Administration Office at or telephone 07957 432272.
